Texas County authorities are investigating a Houston theft that occurred Friday.
A 54-year-old Houston woman reported that a 32-year-old Licking woman had stolen about $257 from her U.S. 63 residence.
The victim told an investigating officer that the other woman had been at the location with her husband, who was there to work on flower beds. The victim stated she had asked the two to stay outside because she cares for a 99-year-old woman inside.
She said that after the other woman had asked to use the bathroom during the day, she went in and took the contents of three jars of coins that had totaled $257 a couple of months earlier, but contained more at the time of the theft. The victim reportedly also had several power tools stolen and located them at a pawn shop in Houston.
A report was to be sent to the prosecuting attorney for charges.
