Colleen Adland, 87, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Southridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marshalltown.
She was born Aug. 7, 1924, in Omaha, Neb., daughter of Earl and Fern McKinney. She and Richard L. Adland were married in 1942 at First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa.
She graduated in 1942 from Marshalltown High School and attended Marshalltown Community College.
She began working as a reporter and photographer for the Times Republican shortly after high school. She held a graphics position with AEA6 and was a marketing representative for Doncaster custom fit clothier before joining her husband to open Adland Engraving in Marshalltown, Iowa.
She was an artist and loved to experience nature. She enjoyed boating and water skiing, bridge club and composing poetry. She was a member of First United Methodist Church
in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter J.U., Marshalltown Rotary Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was a past board member of Iowa River Hospice. She began the Meals on Wheels program.
Services were Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care in Marshalltown, Iowa. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
