HHS boys' basketball coach Dustin Kirkman signals to his teams from the sidelines during the past season.

Former Houston boys’ basketball coach Dustin Kirkman, who resigned Monday, issued the following written statement this morning:

“I have no comment regarding my decision to not sign my contract for the 2011-2012 school year. I would like to thank all of the young men that I had the pleasure of coaching over the past two seasons, leaving them and the school is a very tough decision I had to make. I am very proud of the efforts and growth of these young men.

“I would like to thank the school board, Mrs. (Amy) Dill, Mrs. (LeAnn) Edington, and the entire elementary staff for the opportunity to experience such a rewarding job. I would also like to say a special thank you to Wanda Ichord and Lisa Malam for all of their help.

“Lastly, I would like to thank the community for the support they have given me over the past two years. I will greatly miss my time at Houston.”
