Details surrounding injuries that led to Houston man's death have been turned over to the county prosecutor's office. 

A 53-year-old Houston man died eight days after suffering injuries at a Licking bar, according to local authorities.

The Licking Police Department is investigating the death of Rickie Murray, of 5787 U.S. 63, who was the victim of an apparent assault on Saturday, Oct. 8. He died Sunday, Oct. 16.

Licking police responded around 11:10 p.m. to a disturbance at the Outback Bar and Grill. Murray was transported by ambulance for medical treatment and later died at a Springfield hospital.

Licking Police Chief Scott Lindsey said a male suspect has been identified, and that several witnesses have been interviewed about the incident.

Lindsey said there was no weapon involved in the assault.

He said Tuesday afternoon that no arrest had yet been made, but the majority of the investigation is complete, and a report has been submitted to the Texas County prosecuting attorney.
