Authorities are investigating the death of a Houston man at a Licking bar. 

The Licking Police Department is investigating the death Sunday of Rickie Murray, 53, of 5787 U.S. 63 in Houston, who was the victim of an apparent assault on Saturday, Oct. 8.

At about 11:10 p.m. on that date, Licking police responded to a disturbance at the Outback Bar and Grill. Murray was transported by ambulance for medical treatment and later died at a Springfield hospital.

Licking Police Chief Scott Lindsey said a male suspect has been identified, and that several witnesses have been or will be interviewed about the incident.

Lindsey said there was no weapon involved in the assault.

He also indicated that when the investigation is complete, results will be presented to the Texas County prosecuting attorney.
