One person was killed and a Cabool woman injured in a wreck Tuesday involving an ambulance, authorities said.  

A Cabool woman was injured when an SUV crashed with an ambulance, killing one, on Tuesday in Oregon County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. 

Dead is Elisa J. Pounders, 18, of Thayer, whose northbound 2004 GMC Envoy went out of control, striking a West Plains ambulance. Both overturned on U.S. 63 about two miles north of Koshkonong.

One person in the ambulance – Fonda M. Holder, 46, of Cabool, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. The ambulance driver, James C. Burkshire, 44, of West Plains, also had moderate injuries and went to Ozarks Medical Center.

Pounders was pronounced dead at the scene.
