David Meyer, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at his home in Enid, Okla.
He was born Nov. 9, 1937, in Grayslake, Ill., son of Richard and Edna Curl Meyer. He and Beatrice Travis were married Oct. 12, 1962.
He was raised in Tyrone. He was a paratrooper for the Army Special Forces.
He and his wife lived in Missouri before moving to Enid, Okla., in 1980. He worked as a welder and mechanic. He owned a siding and roofing business.
He enjoyed gardening, working with his hands, fishing and old westerns. He attended Maine Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; three children, David Meyer, Richard Meyer and Jana Rickards of Enid, Okla.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Richard, Ronald, Carl and John Meyer; and a sister, Martha Welch.
Services were Monday, Nov. 21, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel of Enid, Okla., with the Rev. Jerald Bushman officiating. Burial was in Waukomis Cemetery.
