Delphia Jewell Kile, 88, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at Kabul Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Red Oak, Iowa, daughter of James Arley and Gladys Faye Byrd Smith.
Her family moved to Cabool when she was young and later moved to Elk Creek. She had an eighth grade education from Elk Creek School. At age 12, she went to work at the Elk Creek Store for Dick Grisham. She worked for different merchants in Cabool as well as the Shoe Factory.
She enjoyed sewing, making many quilts and wedding dresses, card games, dominoes and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister and parents.
Survivors include five children, Lana Hensley of Cabool, Jim of Billings, Terry of Gainsville, Texas, Kirby of Stott City and Nancy Foster of Houston; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and many other relatives and friends.
Services were Friday, Nov. 4, at Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrel Loughridge officiating. Burial was in Steeley Chapel Cemetery.
