The Houston eighth grade girls’ basketball team cruised past Mountain Grove 44-10 Tuesday to open the new season.
Sarah Kelley scored 12 points and Autumn Walker added 10 for the Lady Tigers, who led 14-3 after the opening quarter and 26-6 at the half.
“I thought our guards did a great job getting the ball up the floor with the pass for easy scores,” Houston coach John Jordan said.
Summer Neal, Chloe Morning and Shelby Cremer had six points apiece for Houston.
The game was the opener of the Mountain Grove Tournament.
SEVENTH GRADE: The Houston seventh grade girls lost to Mountain Grove 16-14 in overtime Tuesday.
Dekyra Dennis and Jaycee Huff led the Lady Tigers with four points apiece.
“It was disappointing because I know this group is better than we showed,” Jordan said. “The positive is it was our first game and there is a lotof season left. I know this group will get better.”
