Garlin Baney

Garlin Ray Baney, 65, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011.

He was born Feb. 27, 1946, in Cabool, son of Thomas and Fern Hall Baney. He and Zetta Carol Ellison were married June 9, 1972, in Buffalo, Iowa.

He and his family made their home in Cabool, where they had a small farm. He loved to hunt and fish and was a truck driver by trade. He retired at a young age due to heart problems.

He gave his life to the Lord at a young age and was baptized. He recently rededicated his life to his Lord and Savior and was baptized in 2009.

He loved his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Connie Childres and Shirley Upshaw; two brothers, J.D. Baney and Thomas Baney; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include six children, Regina Cox and Kyla Collins of Springfield, Shawanna Hanson of Diggins, Joyce E. Ice of Houston, Sherry Ray Smith of Montana, Vicky Gene of Michigan, and Kelly Ellison and Ronald Troy Ellison of Houston; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Nova Baney; and many other family and friends.

Graveside services were Wednesday, Nov. 2, in Mt. Ararat Cemetery near Cabool with Terry Wallace officiating. Burial was under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home.
