Traffic - swelled by deer hunters - backed up Friday afternoon following an accident on U.S. 63. Above, Houston officer Tim Ceplina and Police Chief Jim McNiell of the Houston Police Department.

A pair of  trucks were involved in a crash at the intersection of U.S. 63 and Highway F (Walnut Street)  in Houston Friday at about 3:30 p.m.

The wreck, involving a Ford F-150 4X4 and a smaller Ford Ranger, backed up Friday afternoon traffic on U.S. 63 that swelled by hunters heading out for the first weekend of this year’s firearms deer season.

Two ambulance crews responded to the scene, along with Houston Police Department officers and City of Houston firefighters.

There were no apparent injuries, but both trucks sustained significant damage.
