The Houston eighth grade girls’ basketball team lost its first game of the season Monday night – a 29-18 defeat at Willow Springs.
Shelbi Cremer led the Lady Tigers (3-1) with seven points. Sarah Kelley scored four.
Houston trailed 8-2 early and was outscored in every quarter.
“We never had a chance of winning this game,” Lady Tigers coach John Jordan said. “We didn’t come ready to play or focused. Way too many turnovers.
“Kids have to do a better job of listening, and I’ve got to do a better job of coaching during practice.”
SEVENTH GRADE: The Houston seventh grade girls’ late rally fell short in a 25-24 loss Monday at Willow Springs.
The Lady Tigers (2-2) outscored Willow 14-4 in the fourth quarter to nearly erase a double-digit deficit.
“Give the kids credit. They fought back, but we dug ourselves a hole,” Jordan said. “We missed defensive assignments and turned the ball over way too many times.”
Abby Casper scored 11 points for Houston.
