Members of the Houston City Council met Monday and received updates on several projects. 

Members of the Houston City Council OK’d plans to rezone a tract of land off Cleveland Road. 

The eastern 170 feet of property on Mesa Road owned by Bob and Audrey Barnhart will be zoned residential and the balance will be zoning as agricultural.

In other matters, members:

-Are reviewing contracts with the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce and the local GED program to make sure they comply with state law.

-Heard from Wes Murray, TCMH CEO; and Kathy Richardson, Downtown Houston Inc., related to a project that moved an awning to Lone Star Plaza. Following comments from Butch Castleman, the city will meet to improve lines of communication with the Houston Parks and Recreation Board, said City Administrator Larry Sutton.

-OK’d plans by Texas County Area Information Network (TRAIN) to put additional equipment on local water towers that will increase the speed of its wireless Internet service.

-Amended its recently approved 2012 budget to correct a calculation error. Tractor and pool slide purchases, which totaling $18,000, were removed.

-Decided to next meet Tuesday, Jan. 3, because of the holiday.
