James V. Gobble

A Texas County native who attended school at Success and Licking died Friday from injuries sustained in an accident.

James V. Gobble, 35, crashed into an oncoming car last Thursday night on Highway 40 (Interstate 64) in Chesterfield. He was pronounced dead at 2:31 a.m. at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, police say.

The driver of the car Gobble hit suffered minor injuries, police say. No one else was injured.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says Gobble was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 40 at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday. East of Boone’s Crossing, Gobble collided with an oncoming car driven by Jorge P. Hernandez, 22, of O’Fallon.

Hernandez had been wearing a seat belt. Police say they don’t know if Gobble was wearing a seat belt.

An autopsy and toxicology tests are pending.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 atSt. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, 601 Claymont Drive, Ballwin, MO63011. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials bemade out to Alex Gobble for his 529 college investment fund, C/OO’Sullivan-Muckle Mortuary, 13996 Olive Blvd., Chesterfield, MO63017.
