The Houston eighth-grade boys built an early lead, lost it and regained it in the final quarter to top Salem Thursday night.

The Tigers, who were ahead 19-12 at the half before Salem tied it entering the fourth quarter, had a 11-6 advantage down the stretch to win 33-28.

Nathan Poynter led Houston with 10 points. Stetson Welch and Keegan Spurlin scored eight apiece.

“The boys played hard and kept fighting the entire game,” Tigers coach Ryan Munson said. “They played the best defense they have played this year to beat a very good team.

SEVENTH GRADE: Trevor Motzkus led the Tigers with five points in a 48-10 loss to Salem.
