The Houston eighth-grade girls’ basketball team rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat Liberty 35-34 Monday night.

The Lady Tigers had a 28-17 advantage in the second half.

“Great finish by our eighth graders,” Houston coach John Jordan said. “We switched our defense at halftime to fullcourt man defense and it seemed to bring up our intensity.

“These kids always seem to find a way to win – even when it appears that we are going to lose.”

Autumn Walker led Houston (9-1) with 13 points. Abby Casper added six.

SEVENTH GRADE: Alyssa Hayes scored 12 points in the Lady Tigers’ 37-11 victory Monday against Liberty.

Jaydin Ramsey added seven points for the Lady Tigers (7-2), who led 14-0 after the opening quarter and by 22 at the half.
