Jane D. Kirkwood, 73, was the third of five children of Charles and Ella Mae (Shipp) Perryman. She was born Oct. 12, 1938, in Raymondville, Mo. She passed away Dec. 19, 2011, in Houston, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ella Mae Perryman; a sister, Olive Brannam; and three grandchildren, Stephanie Radford, Joseph and Jonathan Kirkwood.
She leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Herbert Kirkwood of the home; one daughter, Jan Radford of Houston, Mo.; one son and daughter-in-law, Van and Rebecca Kirkwood of Houston, Mo.; four granddaughters, Jennifer Radford of Wichita, Kan., Susanne Thomas of Cahokia, Ill., and Rae Ann and Vanessa Rae Kirkwood of Houston, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Anthony and Alexandra Radford of Wichita, Kan., and Jonathan Lindsley, Wyatt and Sara Thomas of Cahokia, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Cooper of Houston, Mo., and Patsy Foutch, of Peoria, Ill.; and one brother, Joe Perryman of Houston, Mo.
Jane met Herbert when she was 13 on the steps of the old Houston High School. He called her his little Indian Princess. They enjoyed many good times together and found comfort in each other in the bad times. They had a wonderful 56 years together, sharing times fishing and going on float trips, being with their kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also loved to crochet, read and play card games with her family. Family and church were very important to her. Her church family was at Central Baptist Church, where she was a member, serving as song leader and youth teacher. Any time spent with family or church family was always greatly anticipated and enjoyed immensely.
Jane had worked for the Texas County Memorial Hospital for 41 years, starting as a switch board operator and finally retiring as Assistant CFO. She was known to take her work home with when she would answer the phone at home, “Accounting, Jane!” Jane had also served on the TCMH board for 10 years and was preparing to run for the position again.
She will be missed by all who loved and knew her best.
The family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Central Baptist Cemetery in her honor, in lieu of floral arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.evansfh.com.
