Texas County Sheriff Carl Watson surveys the scene of an accident Thursday afternoon in Houston. Looking on are Houston firemen.

A tractor-trailer rig carrying wood lost part of its load at about 1 p.m. Thursday at Highway B and U.S. 63 in Houston.

Representatives of the Houston Police Department, Texas County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri Department of Transportation responded to the scene.

The lumber that fell from the trailer was quickly pushed to the side of the road, but much of the rest of the truckload was also on the verge of falling off, barely held in place by straps.

An attempt to use a tractor to get the load back in place was unsuccessful, as a strap broke and more wood came down onto the highway.
