Emergency workers performed a daring rescue Saturday east of Houston after a vehicle ran off Highway B, traveled down a steep embankment and landed near a creek.
Crystal Storm’s vehicle was demolished as it left the highway near a curve and struck several trees. The terrain made the rescue difficult because emergency personnel had to grab trees to maintain their balance.
Responders from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Texas County Memorial Hospital and Texas County Rescue Squad put the 22-year-old Houston woman in a wire cage, covered it with red protective material and carried her to safety to a waiting ambulance. She had moderate injuries.
Agencies were dispatched to just east of the Ross residence after someone saw the mishap. The vehicle was not visible from the roadway.
Storm was transferred to Texas County Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
