Eloise Mildred Casebeer, 98, of Mountain Grove, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012.
She was born April 25, 1913, in Dykes, daughter of Charles Monroe and Iva Stottlemyre Campbell. She and Calvin Edgar “Casey” Casebeer were married Jan. 7, 1939 in Baxter County, Ark.
She grew up in the Upton area and graduated from Houston High School. She attended teacher’s college in Springfield and taught school for several years in one-room school houses before her marriage.
She and her husband lived on their farm near Mountain Grove until her passing. She enjoyed spending time outside on her farm and playing cards, dominos and Scrabble with her family and many friends and neighbors. She wrote poetry from an early age and and documented her love for her farm in a most memorable poem called “Wonder Valley Farm.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Casey; a brother, Doris Campbell; and a sister, Iretta McMurtrey.
Survivors include a brother, Delmer Campbell; and many extended family members and friends.
Memorial services were Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home.
