The annual Knights of Columbus free-throw shooting competition is 1 p.m. Sunday at Licking Fema Gym.

The contest is open to boys and girls ages 10 to 14. Practice and registration begin at noon. The competition starts at 1 p.m.

Proof of age is required and determined by the participant’s age on Jan. 1. High school age athletes should check with their school athletic director or MSHSAA regarding possible eligiblity conflicts.

Boys and girls ages 11-12 will use a women’s regulation basketball and shoot from a 12-foot foul line. Participants ages 12-14 will also use a women’s basketball and shoot from the regulation 15-foot foul line. Both baskets will be the standard 10 feet tall.

Each participant may compete in only one council competition. Winners will progress to the district, regional and state levels of competition.

The district championship will be held in February. Regional and state championships follow in March.

In the case of inclement weather, the competition will be held the following weekend.
