A Houston man's death last October has led to charges of manslaughter.

As a result of an October incident at a bar in Licking that ended in the death of a Houston man, Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Mike Anderson on Dec. 29 charged Caleb J. Buckner, 24, of 208 Old Salem Road in Licking, with first-degree involuntary manslaughter.

At about 11:10 p.m. Oct. 8, the Licking Police Department responded to a disturbance at the Outback Bar and Grill. Following an investigation of the incident, authorities determined that Buckner struck Rickie Murray in the face, causing Murray to fall and strike his head on the pavement.

Murray later died at a Springfield hospital.

Buckner surrendered himself at the Texas County Jail last weekend and was released on bond.
