The Texas County Commission has appointed a Cabool man to fill a vacancy on the Texas County Memorial Hospital board of trustees.
Dr. Jim Perry, OD, will fill a void until an election in April to fill the post created with the death of Jane Kirkwood. Perry took the oath of office to serve on the TCMH board of trustees at the January hospital board meeting.
The commission had originally appointed C.R. Riddle of Cabool to the position, but he was unable to serve.
“I’m pleased to be able to enhance the geographical representation of the hospital board for Texas County,” Perry said.
About 12 years ago Perry worked with hospital administration to bring outpatient eye surgery to TCMH on a monthly basis.
“Speaking on behalf of our board, medical staff and administration, we are honored that Dr. Perry is willing to complete the remainder of Ms. Kirkwood’s term,” said Wes Murray, chief executive officer at TCMH. “We are also pleased to bring a representative from southern Texas County back on the hospital’s board of trustees.”
Perry, a native of Cabool, is an optometrist in the community where he lives with his wife, Lori. The couple has two grown sons that were raised in Cabool.
Perry has filed for the five-year hospital board position that will be decided in the April election.
