The T-shirt design for the Houston Lady Tigers' "Pink Out" night.

The Houston High School girls’ basketball team will host a “Pink Out” night Feb. 6 for cancer awareness.

The team will wear pink headbands, wristbands and shoe laces. They will also warm up in a specially-designed T-shirt that is being sold to the public for $12.

Proceeds for the event, which will include pink cupcakes and snacks for sale and raffles, will benefit Terisa Ward’s Relay For Life team.

Lady Tigers coach Brent Kell said seniors Haylee Kell and Elizabeth Hayes approached him about hosting the event.

“We thought it would be something special to raise awareness,” he said. “We’ve got people here on our school staff who are fighting cancer or who have beaten it. A lot of people suffer from cancer or know somebody who is.”

Brent Kell said there have already been about 140 shirts ordered. He said the team’s wish is for everyone in the crowd to wear one.

The deadline to order “Pink Out” T-shirts is Jan. 30. They canbe ordered by contacting Audrey Kell at 417-967-3024 oraudrey@houston.k12.mo.us.
