A Houston man has withdrawn his re-election bid.

An incumbent on the Houston board of education withdrew his name Monday for the April school election.

Steve Pounds withdrew his name, citing personal reasons, school officials said. The other incumbent, Kathy Hutcheson, did not seek re-election.

The field on the ballot in April is: Tadd McCloud, James Bathon, Jim Root, Troy “Butch” Castleman, Robert James Enfield Jr. and Kay Walker.
