Ruby Murray, 91, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, in Carthage.
She was born Nov. 10, 1920, in Plato, W. R. “Turkey Bill” and Alice Mae Scott Hutsell. She married Edward Douglas and later married Stanley Murray.
She graduated from Houston High School in 1939 and always enjoyed helping plan and attending class reunions.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Houston for more than 53 years before placing her membership with the Alba Christian Church on Dec. 30, 2001.
She lived on the same farm for 56 years before moving to Carthage.
She made quilts for herself and family members. She loved baking dinner rolls, loaves of bread and cookies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Edward and Stanley; a sister, Ruth; and two daughters, Kaye Douglas and Sue Bequette.
Survivors include a son, Eugene Douglas of Carthage; a daughter, Cathy McKinney of Carthage; two granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; a great-grandson; two stepsons; 12 step-grandchildren; 15 step great-grandchildren; and eight step great-great grandchildren.
Services were Monday, Jan. 2, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Hamm officiating. Burial was in in Pine Lawn Cemetery.
