Sales tax revenue collected at Houston merchants finished the year up about 1.3 percent, according to a report from the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The tally for 2011 was $649,467 from a one-cent sales tax. That’s up $8,324 from a year ago. The total in 2009 was $649,907.
Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for roads, sidewalks and utility work. The total for each was about $156,034 for the year.
An eighth-cent sales tax for debt retirement on a fire truck totaled $78,009 for the year.
