A Solo woman was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a U.S. 63 crash at the Hog Creek Bridge, authorities said.

Troopers said Pauline Lesley, 83, was driving a northbound 1996 Chevrolet when she pulled into the path of a 1986 Peterbilt operated northbound by Rex A. Carter, 57, of Mansfield.

Both vehicles were attempting to avoid a previous accident.

Lesley, who was wearing a seat belt, was flown by air ambulance to St. John’s in Springfield. Her vehicle was totaled.

Six troopers were at the scene. Members of the Texas County Rescue Squad also were called to assist.
