Ernest Arthur McKee

Ernest Arthur McKee, 74, was born May 30, 1937, to John Ival and Gladys Irene (Pearcy) McKee near Upton, Mo. He passed away February 10, 2012, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ralph.

Ernie was united in marriage to Betty Jean Shelton on May 30, 1957. They were blessed with two daughters.

He is survived by his wife of the home; his daughters, Sherry Jeanette Harmon and husband, David, of Bucyrus and Tammy Sue Scheets and husband, Darren, of Houston; one granddaughter, Jessica Dawn Smith and husband, Jamie, of Bucyrus; one grandson, Jake Austin Scheets of Houston; one great-granddaughter, Amy Eilis Smith of Bucyrus; one brother, Charles Ival McKee and wife, Geri, of Fulton; a special cousin and friend, Gene McKee and wife, Rochelle; two uncles, Jimmy and Jessie; two aunts, Mae and Julia; and several nieces and nephews.

Ernie worked several years for Drew road construction. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed and looked forward to riding horses with Jessica and fishing with Jake and Gene.

He was baptized by Brother Hubert Darter in Roubidoux by the Old Hancock Store in 2008.We take comfort in knowing he is in Heaven and that he will be waiting for us there.

Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at the Hickory Ridge Baptist Church with Pastors Ralph Baker and Hubert Darter officiating. Pallbearers were Eddie McKee, Gene McKee, Jake Scheets, Tracy KcKee, J.W. Scheets and Jamie Smith. Honorary Pallbearers were Bob Stallcup, Cory Scheets, Darrell Smith and Lonnie Travis. Burial was in Hickory Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
