Volunteer firefighters from the Houston Rural Fire Department responded to two grass fires Thursday afternoon.
The first occurred at about 1:30 p.m. in a pasture on Cleveland Road south of Houston.
Using a small, mobile truck equipped with water and a hose, and by raking the edges of the fire toward the center, firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the approximately one-acre blaze.
The second response took place at about 3:15 p.m., when a call was received regarding brush fire behind the Houston airport.
