Lonnie Franklin Bryan, 76, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Kabul Nursing Home.
He was born July 30, 1935, in Rayville, son of Voyd and Lorene Hankins Bryan. He and Ara Jean Seitz were married in 1956. She died in 2003. He married Julia Standiford in 2004.
He was employed by the Vendo Company in Kansas City before purchasing Drinkmor Beverage Company in Richmond in 1962. He sold the business in 1968 and worked at the Ford Motor Company for a number of years prior to working for the Whittaker Cable Corporation. After retiring, he worked many years as a real estate broker for United Country in Richmond while he ran his farm.
He loved to garden. He enjoyed working with the church and studying the scriptures and the Book of Mormon. He loved antique Ford cars.
He and his wife, Jeannie, increased his family to almost 40 foster children through out the years. He and Julia moved to southern Missouri in 2005 and continued to work with the church by helping the congregation in Salem grow.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jeannie; and a daughter, Celeste.
Survivors include his wife, Julia of the home in Houston; eight children, Michael Bryan of Richmond, Troy Morehouse of Kearney, Charlene Furr of Solo, Carla Bryan of Independence, Robert Clover, Jimmy Standiford and Diane Boner of Trenton and Rhonda Stamper of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Alexander of Excelsior Springs.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Temple Lot of the Church of Christ in Houston. The body was cremated under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
