Authorities responded Saturday to Licking to a report of an apparent drug overdose.

A Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy was dispatched early Saturday evening to a Whitlock Road residence at Licking after a 55-year-old woman reported finding her 26-year-old son face down in the bathroom after an apparent overdose.

The woman said she had found a needle in the room, and her son was turning purple.

When the officer arrived, paramedics already had the son in an ambulance. They told the officer the son had apparently injected Fentenyl into his body.

The officer reported observing other evidence in the bathroom, including a razor blade, and the bottom portion of an aluminum can that appeared to have been burnt.

The son was taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital.
