Sales tax revenue was down dramatically in Texas County during the latest monthly distribution.

Sales tax revenue collected in Texas County dropped almost 27 percent from the same period a year ago, according to a monthly distribution report from the Missouri Department of Revenue. 

Each of three, half-cent sales totaled about $59,000, which was down about $21,500 from the same period a year ago.

Funds are used for general revenue purposes, debt repayment for the county justice center and maintenance needs. Residents pay no property tax to the county.
