CABOOL — The Houston Tigers couldn’t recover from an early double-digit deficit and lost 78-62 Tuesday at Cabool.
Senior Curry Van Horn hit four of the team’s 10 3-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points. Devin Coulter added three triples and 13 points.
Dylan Smith and Drew Pearson scored 19 points apiece for Cabool. Austin Baker hit six 3-pointers and scored 18 points.
After Rodney Preheim’s jumper gave HHS a 2-0 lead, Cabool rattled off 13 unanswered points and eventually led 17-4 following Pearson’s layin.
The Tigers (4-15, 1-5 South Central Association) closed the gap to 28-25 on Aaron Cantrell’s jumper late in the second quarter. But Cabool got a pair of baskets to take a seven-point halftime advantage and pulled away in the second half.
JUNIOR VARSITY: Tanner Cantrell scored 11 points in the JV Tigers’ 50-36 loss Tuesday at Cabool. Kolby Walker added nine.
