Military veteran

Calvin C. Kaut, 86, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Ozarks Medical Center.

He was born April 4, 1925, in Arroll, son of George W. and Harriett Rachel Milbank Kaut. He and Verna Ruth Payne were married Jan. 9, 1944, in Camp Water, Texas.

He served in the Army during WWII. The second day of D-Day, he landed on Normandy Beach. He also fought at the Battle of the Bulge.

He owned and operated the Mountain View Livestock Auction for approximately 17 years. He traveled from sale barn to sale barn trading livestock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Calvin Jr. and Melvin Eugene; two grandsons; two sisters, Margaret Cherry and Marie Bosley; and four brothers, Al Kaut, Ralph Kaut, Harry Kaut and Raymond Kaut.

Survivors include his wife, Vera of Mountain View; five children, Robert Kaut and Jack Kaut of Mountain View, Jerry Kaut of Houston, Wanda Cooper of Summersville and Cindy White of Shell City; a brother, Tom Kaut of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Services were Saturday, March 17, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Purcell, the Rev. Kendall Ford and the Rev. Emmett Bradford officiating. Burial with military honors were in Arroll Cemtery.
