Eddie Ray Heflin

Eddie Ray Heflin, 85, son of Roy and Annabelle (Eliott) Heflin, was born June 16, 1926, at Big Rock, Tenn. He passed away March 7, 2012, at home in Raymondville, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; his children, Dale Heflin and wife, Donna, of St. James, Mo., Karen Ooton and husband, Ken, of Worden, Ill., Harold Heflin of Dupo, Ill., Craig Heflin of Edwardsville, Ill., Kurt Heflin and wife, Cindy, of Mulberry Grove, Ill., Cleeta Frier of Ramsey, Ill., and Chris White of Raymondville, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Dana Funderburk, Doug Heflin, Angie Heflin, Mindy Weems, Danielle Heflin, Lacy Heflin, Joseph and Claire Heflin, Sarah Ooton, Melanie Ooton, Kelly Ooton, and Cody White; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Cody Heflin; his first wife, Ada Mae (Cox) Heflin of Greenville, Ill.; sister, Daisy Adams of Illinois; and two nephews, Butch and Teddy Roy Adams of Ill. He also leaves to mourn him many more family members and friends.

As a young boy, his family moved from Tennessee to Illinois, where he was raised and went to school.

Ed worked on the Alaskan Pipeline, Army Depot in Arizona and Granite City, Ill. He then retired from Granite City Steel, working construction.

Ed was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Before he lost his sight, he loved reading his Bible. He enjoyed hunting and at one time he was an avid horseback rider.

Ed will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial graveside service will be held in Big Rock, Tenn., at a later date.
