Houston police were called to the TCMH emergency room after a patient fled.

A Mountain Grove man was cited by the Houston Police Department Sunday after he checked himself into the emergency room at Texas County Memorial Hospital and then ran away.

Austin E. Moore, 21, of 502 13th St., in Mountain Grove, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia after the incident, which began just after midnight when an officer was dispatched to the ER regarding a suicidal patient who had run off.

ER staff told the officer that Moore had checked himself in after he cut his wrist, but had then become uncooperative and ran, claiming he was going to kill his wife.

Moore reportedly took off to the north toward Highway 17. The police officer and a Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy searched the area, and found him at about 1 a.m.

A search of his person produced a small marijuana pipe containing a small amount of marijuana. Moore was transported to Ozark Medical Center in West Plains for 96-hour mental evaluation.

In other police matters, Delores M. Scott, 64, of 141 South Oak Crest Drive in Houston, was issued a citation on Feb. 28 for third-degree domestic assault after reportedly being involved in a physical altercation at her residence with a 13-year-old male.

The juvenile’s mother and her husband were reportedly also involved in the incident, arguing at Scott’s residence. The husband and the boy had apparently both argued with Scott before the alleged assault occurred.
