Stanley Crown, MD

A board certified family medicine physician has joined the Mountain Grove Clinic of Texas County Memorial Hospital.

Stanley Crown, MD, began seeing patients at the clinic last week. He will see patients three afternoons a week until the end of May at his private practice in West Plains –– Crown Family Practice, which he began in 2003.

Crown plans to close his practice in West Plains and see patients full-time at the Mountain Grove Clinic beginning June 1.

“We have waited a long time for a full-time physician for the Mountain Grove clinic,” said Wes Murray, chief executive officer at TCMH.

Murray added that Crown’s employment by TCMH is “a great situation for us.”

TCMH began actively recruiting a full-time physician for clinic in August 2009. Although several physicians seriously considered the full-time opportunity at TCMH, a search for a full-time physician was still underway when Crown contacted TCMH about physician opportunities.

“Dr. Crown has the work ethic to make a practice in Mountain Grove succeed,” Murray said. “And with Dr. Crown’s many years of experience working in south central Missouri, he’s very aware of the area patient demographics and needs.”

Crown has worked in rural America since completing his medical training –– first in Kansas, moving to the Ozarks in September 1993.

“Dr. Crown is a seasoned physician that has practiced in the Ozarks for many years,” Murray said. “He will fit in well at the TCMH Mountain Grove Clinic.”

While working part-time at the clinic, Crown plans to offer extended hours, seeing patients until 6 p.m. on Fridays.

“Dr. Crown has expressed willingness to offer extended hours on Friday to help meet the community healthcare needs of those that cannot get in to see a physician by 5 p.m.,” Murray said.

Murray explained that the clinic would “test” the need for extended hours on Fridays for the patients in the Mountain Grove area.

When Crown begins his full-time duties on June 1, he will also begin admitting patients to TCMH.

Crown is a board certified family medicine physician. He is a graduate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine, and he completed the family medicine residency program at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. Crown resides in West Plains with his wife, Berniece, and their two children.

Crown joins Dr. Michael Moore and Dr. Charlie Rasmussen at the TCMH Mountain Grove Clinic. Moore also works part-time at the clinic two days a week, and Rasmussen provides an obstetrics clinic at the clinic one afternoon a week.

Healthcare providers at the TCMH Mountain Grove Clinic are accepting new patients, and the clinic accepts most forms of private insurance including Medicare and Medicaid.
