The U.S. Postal Service is meeting with business customers on Tuesday to discuss changes in standards.

The U.S. Postal Service will hold a meeting Tuesday for business customers to discuss possible changes to service standards, USPS confirmed this morning.

The local American Postal Workers Union said the meeting was taking place in Springfield Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., and Rich Watkins, USPS spokesperson, confirmed.

“We’re moving forward as if those service standards will go into effect later this year,” Watkins said.

Watkins said that if the standards are changed, overnight first-class delivery could be affected. According to the union, if the changes are implemented, next day local mail delivery will be eliminated.
