William “Bill” James Nims Sr., 77, died Friday, March 9, 2012, in Springfield.

He was born April 19, 1934, in Maquoketa, Iowa, son of Harry A. and Belvelbel Nims.

He served in the Marine Corp and was a sergeant (E5) when he was discharged.

He enjoyed farming, playing cards and auctions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, William James Nims Jr. of Anamossa, Iowa, and Kevin E. Nims of Sperry, Iowa; two daughters, Sandra Campbell of Cleveland, Ga., and Crystal Rindels of Waterloo, Iowa; two brothers, Donald Nims of Indiana and Rodger Nims of Florida; three grandchildren; and a special friend, Donna Stevens of the home.

Burial was in Bridge Port Cemetery in Maquoketa, Iowa. Local arrangements were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
