A hazardous waste collection day is Saturday in Houston.
Sponsored by the South Central Solid Waste Management District, the 9 a.m. to noon event on Grand Avenue south of city hall includes free collection of old computers, microwaves and televisions.
Several other items will be taken:
•Paints — Latex, oil based and aerosol cans
•Used motor oil and antifreeze.
•Rechargeable, vehicle and button batteries.
•Pesticides and herbicides
The day is for households only; no businesses. No containers larger than five gallons will be accepted.
Summersville will host a pickup day on Aug. 28 on the square in front of city hall.
