Houston High School will soon have a sixth basketball coach in seven years.
The district is seeking a new coach for its varsity boys’ basketball program, according to a posting on the school website. The employment ad was placed Wednesday.
The search for a new coach marks the end of Tom Brown’s one-year tenure with the Tigers. The team finished 4-19 in Brown’s only season.
Brown arrived in Houston three weeks before the 2011-’12 season following the Oct. 10 resignation of Dustin Kirkman. He had previously coached nine seasons at Meadow Heights High School.
The HHS boys’ basketball program has been a turnstile for coaches in recent years. Brown followed Kirkman, Brent Hall, Wayne Jessen and Aaron Griffin on the Tigers’ sidelines.
Houston last won a conference title in 1989 and district championship in 1984.
