It hasn’t take Justin Shelby long to make his mark among more than 18,000 State Farm Insurance agents in the United States and Canada.
In only his fifth month as agent in State Farm’s Houston office, Shelby was ranked 31st out of close to 1,700 agents who are in their first-year with the company.
Rankings are based on an average of production in all of State Farm’s product lines, including auto, life, fire, health, bank and mutual funds. Shelby’s Houston office was ranked No. 1 in life, No. 9 in bank, 73rd in health, 200th in auto, and 400th in mutual funds.
“The staff here is fantastic, and I couldn’t do it without them,” Shelby said. “They pretty much run the office for me – they set appointments for me and run their own appointments. They write the vast majority of the business, but I try to meet with every customer and do a review of what they have so they know and we know.
“But my staff definitely does most of the dirty work.”
Shelby estimates that his office serves about 1,300 households, most of which are in Texas County. As well as he and his team have already done, expectations include even better things.
“We’re waiting for our six-month ranking to come out, which we think will be closer to the top-10,” Shelby said. “I think our mutual fund rank is going to go up to around 50, so that’s going to help quite a bit.”
