Military veteran

Retired City Administrator of Hollister Mo., John Lewis, a loving husband, father and doting grandfather/great-grandfather, succumbed to illness on April 22, 2012.

John’s exemplary work as city administrator for Hollister, Houston, and Macon, Mo., as well as 14 years as Chief Administrator for Point Barrow, Alaska, was recognized via state proclamation from the Missouri House of Representatives’ ninety-second General Assembly.

John was also a decorated veteran of the Korean War having served honorably in the United States Army.

John is survived by his wife, Linda, in Hollister, Mo., along with his daughter and sons, Steven Lewis of Austin, Texas, Debbie McKeever of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., Rick Lewis of Rogers, Ark., David Lewis of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., Steven Doggett of Bayport, Minn., Walter Lewis of Branson, Mo., and Bill Lewis of Hollister, Mo.

John’s surviving family includes, sister Gerri Dorman of Corona, Calif., Lynn Howard of San Diego, Calif., and Junior Lewis of Ridgecrest, Calif.

John was the youngest son in a family of 10 boys and girls loved and cared for by mother, Katie, and father, Lon. As tradition would have it, his extended family reaches far and wide through nieces, nephew and cousins –– far too numerous to mention here.

A celebration of Life Ceremony will be scheduled to allow more family inclusion. Schedule and location will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please send any remembrance as donation in John’s name to the Wounded Warrior program.
