Lois Mildred Troutman

Lois Mildred (Garrison) Troutman, 85, was born April 30, 1926, in Raymondville, Mo., to Edd and Ethyl (Hill) Garrison. On Palm Sunday, April 1, 2012, with her family and caregivers at her side, she made her own triumphal entry into her new heavenly home.

As a child, Lois attended Split Limb School and graduated from Licking High School in 1944.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Edward Troutman in 1946. To this union one daughter was born in 1956. Lois and Raymond were married 56 years.

Except for short times spent in St. Louis and Illinois, Lois lived her entire life in the Raymondville area. She worked at various jobs, including International Shoe and Richard Bros Grocery and Dry Goods. She worked at Romines Motor Company for well over 20 years. While there she earned numerous awards from Ford Motor Company for bookkeeping excellence. Wherever she went she made lifelong friends.

Starting in the 1950s, Raymond began playing in various country music bands. Louis was always there to hear them play, to help carry microphones and amps and to be Raymond’s biggest fan.

After retirement, she and Raymond traveled from one coast to the other visiting family and friends. She was an avid reader and patron of the Texas County Library. Never one to sit still for long, she was active with the VFW Auxiliary, the Missouri Fiddlers and the Texas County Museum.

Lois gave her life to Christ as a young adult. She was a long time member of Boone Creek Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was an active member of the WMU for as long as her health permitted.

Her greatest source of pride and joy was her family. Every photo, newspaper clipping, card or picture drawn by little hands was kept and treasured.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and numerous sisters and brothers-in law.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Bob Higgins of Hillsboro, Mo.; grandchildren, Matthew and Maie Randall of Fair Grove, Mo., and Leia Randall of Licking, Mo.; step-grandchildren, Robert and Sandra Higgins and Kristy and Leo Giovando of Fenton, Mo., and Kelly and Steve Turnbow of Arnold, Mo.; seven step-great grandchildren; one brother, Doyle Garrison of Licking, Mo.; brother and sisters-in-law; and a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services are Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Boone Creek Baptist Church in Licking, Mo., with the Rev. Fred Bobe and the Rev. Josh Hartley officiating. Pallbearers are Don Romines, Glenn Jr. Romines, Bob Romines, Gary Parish, Gene DeWitt and Randy Kell. Burial is in Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
