Paul G. White, 73, of Coffeyville, Kan. died, Friday, April 27, 2012, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 4, 1938, to Carl and Ethel (Bridges) White at Houston, Mo. Mr. White grew up and attended schools in Houston, where he graduated from Houston High School in 1956.
On Nov. 27, 1958, he married Betty Gentry at the First Baptist Church in Houston. Following their marriage, they lived in Houston for a short time before moving to Joplin, where he worked at Dryer Shoe Store. In 1960 they made their home in Coffeyville.
After moving to Coffeyville, Paul purchased the shoe store, naming it Dryer White Shoe Store. He enjoyed his job; he somehow knew what the customer was looking for. And he was never one to turn down a hug.
Paul was a member of the First Baptist Church, Sertoma and a long time member of the chamber of commerce. He enjoyed fishing and meeting up for breakfast with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Betty White of the home, one son; Michael and Renee White of Joplin; two daughters, Brenda and Duane Powell of Coffeyville; and Sonya and James Cantrell of Coffeyville; one brother; Jack and Barbara White of Houston; one sister; Bonnie and Dwaine Miles of Rolla; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bill White, and one step-brother, Gene Watson.
Services were 1 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville with Dr. Randall Terrill officiating. Burial was in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
