Ralph F. Hoffman, 78, and Janet Gilbert Hoffman, 78, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, in Houston.

He was born Jan. 4, 1934, in Assumption, Neb. She was born July 24, 1933 in Aurora, Ill. They were married Nov. 21, 1953.

She was a stay-at-home mom as well as an assembly worker. He was a retired police officer of 28 years for the City of Aurora, Ill., mostly as a detective and expert evidence technician. He also served in the Army from April 8, 1957, to April 7, 1959.

She enjoyed tending to the flowers in her yard. They loved to watch all the wildlife that strolled through their yard such as deer, turkeys, coyotes, and bobcats. They loved to spend time with family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Bobzein Hoffman; and a brother, James Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen Gates Richey; and stepfather, Howard Richey.

His survivors include two sisters, Alice Kramer and Shirley Rosenow; and a brother, Albert Hoffman. She is survived by a sister, Carol Hart; and a brother, Gerald Gilbert. They are also survived by their children, Pamela Campbell, Cheryl Hoffman, Ralph Allen Hoffman and Michael Hoffman; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are 4 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Howell Burkhead officiating. Visitation is 3 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
