A Raymondville man reported to the Texas County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday that his children were being shot at with a pellet gun by his 38-year-old male neighbor at their Ferrell Drive residence.
The children – a 19-year-old male and 17-year-old female – each told an investigating officer they had been fired upon. The female said she was sitting at a picnic table and heard three shots go by her shoulder. The male stated he heard a shot and saw the neighbor pointing the gun at him and then heard a second shot as he ran along a fence line.
The neighbor and his wife told the officer they had been behind their residence shooting a 22-caliber pistol. They said they owned a pellet gun, but didn’t know where it was at the time.
The officer stated that it was unclear whether the children had actually been shot at, or simply heard the pistol being fired.
