A single-vehicle accident Friday night injured two teenagers east of Houston on Brushy Creek Road.

Emergency responders were called early Friday evening to a one-vehicle wreck east of Houston on Brushy Creek Road.

Tpr. Marty Wiseman said an eastbound 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Thomas J. Ivie, 19, of Houston, ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a mailbox, overcorrected and later overturned in a yard on the left side, where sports cards were scattered across  the scene.

Ivie was taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital and flown to Cox South in Springfield. He was listed as serious.

A passenger, Ashley N. Quinton, 14, of Licking, was transported to TCMH and flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was deemed serious, too.

Wiseman said neither was wearing a seat belt. The vehicle was totaled.

The Texas County Rescue Squad also was called.
