Undivided Hearts 5K

A 5K walk/run and block party is Saturday in downtown Houston.

The group Undivided Hearts is hosting the event at its building on the corner of First Street and Chestnut. All proceeds will benefit the ministry’s weekly youth services that reaches more than 80 people each Saturday.

More than 110 people have pre-registered for the 5K, which begins at 10 a.m. Registration is 9-9:45 a.m. Organizers said day-of registrations are welcome. Cost is $20 per runner. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female runners as well as the top runner in each age category.

A block party consisting of bounce houses, games and food will be held from 10:45 a.m. until 2 p.m. Many of the items are free of charge. The public is invited to attend. There will be a dunking booth with several local youth pastors and ministers throughout the event.

A meal of hamburger or hot dog, chips and a soda will be available for purchase beginning at 11 a.m. A bake sale will also be held throughout the day.

Many local businesses and people have donated items for a silent auction that will be held throughout the event. Among the items available are food gift certificates, photography sessions, 18 holes of golf, Springfield Cardinals tickets, decorative tiles, drum lessons, Avon and Longaberger products, manicures and more.
